UnitedHealthcare Specialty Benefits offers a variety of disability insurance products, including: 

  • Short Term Disability (STD):  Includes flexible options for benefit durations, weekly benefit amounts, and non-occupational or 24-hour coverage. 
  • Long Term Disability (LTD):  Includes flexible options for benefit durations, monthly benefit amounts, and employee-buy-up plans.
  • Voluntary Disability*:  Enables employees to purchase disability coverage on their own, through the convenience of payroll deduction. 

*Voluntary LTD available for groups with 10+ employees; Voluntary STD requires 100+ employees.

  • Claim management expertise: Our experienced Claims Specialists work closely with the claimant, employer, physician and a national network of clinical and vocational professionals to address claimants’ needs, with the goal of timely return to a productive lifestyle. 
  • Integrated Medical and Disability Management (for qualified customers who have both UnitedHealthcare medical and disability insurance):  Integrates our disability management expertise with the medical management and behavioral management expertise of our sister companies within UnitedHealth Group, which helps improve health and reduce claim costs.

United HealthCare Disability insurance products are provided by UnitedHealthcare Insurance Company and Unimerica Insurance Company; Unimerica Life Insurance Company of New York(NYC); and in California, Unimerica Life Insurance Company.
